Perhaps more than any other topic of interest, the phenomenon known as Unidentified Flying Objects has drawn much speculation. UFOs remain of great interest and concern.

Many know about “Area 51 - the Roswell Incident” where a UFO supposedly crashed in 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. While original reports revealed that a flying saucer and bodies were recovered, that original story was recanted by the military who later said that the recovered debris was the remains of an experimental weather balloon (“The Roswell UFO Crash”, B.J. Booth, UFO Casebook, July 5, 2004.) Opinions continue to remain divided as to whether this incident is fact or myth.

The United States government studied UFO sightings from 1947 to 1969, and released a critical study called Project Blue Book. The report investigated 12,618 UFO sightings to determine if they were real or if there were other “natural” explanations. According to Michael Hall, author and investigator of UFO phenomena, about 700 of those sightings still remain “unexplained.” (Project Blue Book Research Center, Michael Hall, National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, 1998.)

UFO Conspiracy Theory Cover-ups

UFOs have been seen around the world by tens of thousands of people. Often these reports are dismissed as natural causes such as confusion with the sighting of satellites or aircraft. As often, however, they present true suspicion because of the inexplicable details surrounding the sighting.

Some believe that the US government continues to actively deny evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life. As such, they suggest this is a cover-up, a conspiracy, by both the US government and perhaps other governments as well. (“Alien Nation: UFO Cover-Up or Conspiracy Theory”, William Cooper, AboveTopSecret.com, June 18, 2004.)

The Disclosure Project

The Disclosure Project is a nonprofit research project working to fully disclose the facts about UFOs and extraterrestrial intelligence. On Wednesday, May 9th, 2001, the project brought together some 20 military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses to the National Press Club in Washington, DC to present their personal experiences related to the existence of UFOs. Many witnesses, scientists, pilots, doctors and former military specialists with professional credentials presented first-hand personal testimonials and verification to support the existence of UFOs.

The group has now grown to over 400 individuals from the government, military, and intelligence community, who have stepped up to witness their direct, personal, and first-hand experience with UFOs and extraterrestrials. Several also have acknowledged the cover-up by the military and government to keep this information secret from the public.

Steven M. Greer, M.D. is the principal author and founder of the Disclosure Project, and beginning in 1993, his sole goal was to identify credible witnesses to UFO events and projects for public disclosure regarding the truth about UFOs. He has edited over 120 hours of testimonials from 100 of the 400 witnesses the project amassed, which was later transcribed to 1200 pages of accounts. One testimonial was presented from a former NASA official who saw pictures of UFOs from space. Testimonials included pilots who followed UFOs. They included assertions from witnesses with specific knowledge such as former army sergeant Clifford Stone who stated that he assisted in recovering actual crashed UFOs and bodies and who claims to have cataloged 57 different species of alien life forms (“UFO Spotters Slam US Cover-up”, Rob Watson, BBC News, May 10, 2001).

Many have truly wondered about the existence of life outside this planet. For UFO enthusiasts, the Disclosure Project claims to present a very compelling case for both the existence of extraterrestrial life as well as a widespread cover-up to keep it from the public.
